Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to wait a year before installing a monument on the grave?
No. This is an old wives tale. The monument is not placed directly on the grave but just behind it. We have a professional installation crew that will erect the monument properly.
My loved one was cremated. Do I still need a monument?
Yes. Remember, you erect a monument to remember and commemorate their life. The choice of traditional burial vs. cremation really has nothing to do with it.
Do I need to make an appointment?
No. While appointments can be helpful, they are not necessary. We can meet you during our normal business hours and often after hours or on weekends if arranged ahead of time.
How long does it take to get a monument?
Our normal time frame on domestic granite is 60-90 days. Custom work and imports may take longer as we have no control over the overseas granite industry. The main thing is to get what you really want, no matter the time frame.
Is there a fee to install the monument?
No. We install within 75 miles free of charge. A fee may be added for installations that are outside our normal trade area.
Do you offer a payment plan?
While we don’t finance monuments, we do offer a convenient layaway plan for 12 months. The monument is installed after the final payment.
How do I clean my monument?
Mild soapy water and a scrub brush can work on light stains and as preventative maintenance. The key is making sure it is rinsed with clean water. Treat dark granites such a black or mahogany like glass. You can use glass cleaner and paper towels, preferably on a cloudy day to prevent streaking. We also recommend and sell D2 Biological Solution. This product is tested and is safe on all granites. It works over time by simply spraying on and letting the wind and rain do the work.
Does Diamond and Laser etching last forever?
Yes. This technique is mostly seen on dark granites, and is achieved my making light indentions or scratches in the polished area of the stone. It may lighten over time, but can easily be brightened up again in minutes.
The Funeral Home/Cemetery in my area sells monuments. Do I have to buy from them?
No. Many funeral homes and cemeteries will make it more attractive to buy from them by telling you that if you buy from a monument company, a fee will be assessed to install it in their cemetery. Often, this fee or other restriction is unreasonable and unethical. Keep in mind, they are in the funeral and cemetery business, and don’t have the necessary knowledge to provide you with the very best options or installation practices. If you suspect you are being taken advantage of, please contact us.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes. Our granite is warrantied against manufacture defects. Also, our porcelain pictures have a separate warranty. We also will straighten and level a monument that we installed at no additional charge. The only thing we don’t guarantee is lithochrome and paint. With the monument being outside in the elements, the paint will fade just as anything outside would. Chances are it can be repainted for a reasonable charge.
